RefWorks and Scopus have teamed up to create an add-on module to RefWorks that will provide linking between references in your RefWorks database and information in Scopus.
Note: This feature is only available if your Organization subscribes to both RefWorks and Scopus.
Scopus Links
The Scopus Links icon identifies a reference as being imported from Scopus and having links back to Scopus for additional information. The Scopus Links icon is displayed from any View (All References, a Folder, Search Results, Full View, Standard View, or any designated output style) as well as in the Edit view of a record or when clicking on the View link for a particular record.
Scopus Links is automatically enabled for your personal RefWorks account when your Organization subscribes to this feature. You can disable the Scopus Links in the Tools, Customize area of RefWorks, should you not want to use this feature.
The Scopus Links allow you to see:
Cited (Number of) Times Link
Clicking on the Cited (Number of) Times Link takes you back to Scopus and displays all articles in Scopus that have cited this specific reference. RefWorks will display “new” in Red text next to the cited by count when the count changes. Changes are detected in real time. The “new” is displayed when you locate that record in any RefWorks View (All References, a Folder, Search Results, Full View, Standard View, or any designated output style) and is only displayed for 24 hours.
You can easily export any references from Scopus. Click here for import instructions.
View in Scopus Link
The View in Scopus link takes you to the abstract information for that particular reference and also has links to the articles that cite it.
Related Documents
The Related Documents link brings you to a list of documents in Scopus that have one or more cited references in common with the reference you are viewing in RefWorks.
You can easily export any additional references from Scopus. Click here for import instructions.
More By Author Name Drop-down
The More By drop-down allows you to locate additional articles in Scopus that were written by that same author. Simply select an author’s name in the drop-down and click the “go” button. Scopus will do a search on that name and return the results to you in another window.
Records can easily be exported into RefWorks by following the import instructions.
In addition to having links from your RefWorks database to Scopus, you can set up a profile in the Scopus My Profile area that will do two things:
• Allow Scopus to display a RefWorks icon next to any Scopus records that you already have in your RefWorks database
• Enable a direct export without having to log into RefWorks
To set up your profile in Scopus,
1. In Scopus, click on the My Profile button
2. Click on the RefWorks Settings link
Note: you may be prompted to log in to Scopus with your Scopus login name and password
3. Enter your RefWorks Group Code, Login Name and Password.
Note: Your RefWorks Administrator may have entered the group code automatically for you. Should you need to change this, you can click on the “change group code” link.
4. The Show which Scopus documents are already in my RefWorks database option will display the RefWorks icon for records already stored in your RefWorks database. If you do not want to know which documents from Scopus are in your database, uncheck this box.
5. Click the Submit button to save your settings.
