RefWorks is committed to providing access to individuals with disabilities. We do this by providing a screen-reader friendly interface for Windows users using JAWS or MS Narrator that includes:
‘alt’ attributes for images so a screen reader will not read the file name but rather a description of the image
‘title’ attributes for frames so a screen reader will not read the file name but rather a description of the frame
an option for a screen reader friendly version of the menu which displays the menu as links
descriptive links, e.g. “click here for help” as opposed to “click here”

There are two ways to enable our screen reader compliant interface:
By clicking on the 
icon located next to the References menu option (or next to the Search menu option in a folder or shared database shared via RefShare).
By setting the screen reader friendly menu as the default menu.
To enable the screen reader friendly menu as the default:
Select Tools, Customize from the menu.
In the Startup Options area of the page, select the Yes option under Enable Screen Reader Friendly Menu.
Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to save your selection.
